Veterans Independence Day Parade by Larry Eiben, LOW Veterans Club The Lake of the Woods Veterans Independence Day Parade will be held July 2. This is a special day because there is some history related to this date. Did you know that many Americans believe we should celebrate Independence Day on July 2? The reasoning behind their beliefs was because on July 2, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence. However, it was two days later when its delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence drafted by Thomas Jefferson. For this reason, from 1776 until the present day, July 4 has been celebrated as the birth of American independence with festivities ranging from parades, concerts, and family gatherings. The LOW Veterans invite all clubs and businesses to participate in the celebration of Independence Day. Please contact Larry Eiben, 540-972-1847 or email@example.com for more information. I would like to thank the businesses that have provided fi nancial support for our event (Mama’s Restaurant, Car Doctor, Getty & Associates, Locust Grove Vet Clinic and LOW Fun Bowling League). Don’t delay – give us a call and sign up to provide the community with an exceptional day of celebration.

Lake of the Woods (LOW), a gated community in Locust Grove, VA is located in the northeastern portion of historic Orange County, VA approximately midway between the town of Culpeper and city of Fredericksburg on route 3. Just a fifteen minute drive, off of route 95, exit 130, Lake of the Woods was developed in the late 1960’s. This eclectic community in Locust Grove, VA has since that time evolved into a special community shared by permanent residents; those who use their property as a weekend get-away; and others who stay for the summer or winter seasons.
The Lake of the Woods community in Virginia consists of over 4,000 lots with over 800 lakefront properties and homes on either the main lake or the smaller Keaton Lake, also known as the fishing lake. The main lake is a spring-fed 550 acre body that offers some of the clearest lake water in Virginia, along with some of the best fishing for large-mouth bass in the region. A variety of water sports take place on the main lake, including all types of water-skiing and wake-boarding, tubing, sailing, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, or many prefer cruising the lake on their jet ski, pontoon boat or powerboat and just enjoying the beauty of the lake.
This gem of a community, where everyone waves and talks to their neighbors, is located just a 75 minute drive from most Washington DC locations. The pace is a little slower, the people a little friendlier, and life is a little better here at Lake of the Woods VA. Take a minute to visit, and “you’ll want to make this place your home”!
