Lake of the Woods (LOW), a gated community in Locust Grove, VA is located in the northeastern portion of historic Orange County, VA approximately midway between the town of Culpeper and city of Fredericksburg on route 3. Just a fifteen minute drive, off of route 95, exit 130, Lake of the Woods was developed in the late 1960’s. This eclectic community in Locust Grove, VA has since that time evolved into a special community shared by permanent residents; those who use their property as a weekend get-away; and others who stay for the summer or winter seasons.
The Lake of the Woods community in Virginia consists of over 4,000 lots with over 800 lakefront properties and homes on either the main lake or the smaller Keaton Lake, also known as the fishing lake. The main lake is a spring-fed 550 acre body that offers some of the clearest lake water in Virginia, along with some of the best fishing for large-mouth bass in the region. A variety of water sports take place on the main lake, including all types of water-skiing and wake-boarding, tubing, sailing, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, or many prefer cruising the lake on their jet ski, pontoon boat or powerboat and just enjoying the beauty of the lake.
This gem of a community, where everyone waves and talks to their neighbors, is located just a 75 minute drive from most Washington DC locations. The pace is a little slower, the people a little friendlier, and life is a little better here at Lake of the Woods VA. Take a minute to visit, and “you’ll want to make this place your home”!
