A good friend once told me that there were two glorious days in the life of a boat owner. The day he bought his boat and the day he sold it! I am not sure if in fact that is true. I have a number of friends who seem perfectly happy with their boat and have absolutely no intention of selling their prideful purchase anytime soon. Why would they?
Why sell your boat? Too many fish in the livewell? Kids having too much fun? Rather spend the weekends working? Wife too tan? I can’t for the life of me come up with a really good answer short of selling my old boat so I can buy that new thirty-six footer I’ve had my eye on for months!
Boating is an adventure each and every time you go out on the water. When was the last time you actually looked forward to loading up the family in the old station wagon just to take a drive? Been awhile hasn’t it? Don’t get me wrong. I love spending time with the family. But there’s just no comparison to the back seat of the old station wagon and the spray of the lake in your face with the sun’s reflection looming on the horizon. Trust me on this one.
So if and when the time comes that you ponder selling the old girl, for whatever reason, please stop and think. Is it really going to be a glorious day in this boaters life? I think not!
