As Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof” suggests Tradition provides order and predictability to our hurried lives. The first Saturday in November in Orange County, Virginia the Montpelier Races has been an honored tradition for 81 years. Held at the estate of our 4th President James Madison, the races have been contested since 1934 when Marion DuPont Scott initiated the event.
Last year’s weather was a bit brisk with overcast skies, which provided a challenge for those of us who yearn for a bright, crisp (not under 60) autumn day. Last year I went with our grand-daughter Reagan specifically for the Jack Russell Terrier Races. (Note to self- get there early if you want to see anything).
This year’s event is set for November 7th with the Jack Russell races starting at 10:15 and the horses start around 12:30 PM. There are always plenty of crafters, great food and old friends. Our company Coldwell Banker Elite is one of the corporate sponsors and our CEO Kevin Breen invites all of his sales associates and employees out for a great day of company goodwill and lots of food. Our tent is on the rail for great race viewing.
We expect a great turnout from the Locust Grove Office representing the Lake of the Woods and greater Orange County/Culpeper County Real Estate interests.
Celebrate Tradition, take a break from the hectic day to day challenges and be thoroughly entertained at the Montpelier Races Saturday November 7th!
